I’m not sure if it sounds shallow, but one of the first things about the Tifosi Optics Tsali sunglasses that got my attention was how cool they look. There’s just something about the look of these.
Maybe it’s that they are rimless sunglasses. There is no upper or lower frame on these things. It kind of gives them the cool futuristic look.
Of course I’ll always choose function first and as these are Tifosi I know they’re going to be well-made glasses for a reasonable price. In fact, it’s just for that reason that they are on my list of the top cycling glasses.
One of the strong points on these glasses is that they are meant for the small to medium size faces that are often overlooked. Not only the fit and lens width, but just the overall fit is designed so it is appropriate for those with a face on the smaller side.
The adjustable nose piece and arms are wrapped in hydrophilic rubber so that they’ll stay in place even when drenched in water or sweat. You can really dial in the fit so that they stay in place without feeling it on your ears.
The Tsali is among the lightest cycling sunglasses I’ve seen, coming in at a featherweight 29g. That’s a bit lighter than most and you can ride with these on and really not notice it.
A big bonus is that the Tifosi Tsali comes with a total of 3 lenses. You can an extra red lens you can switch in for increased clarity and contrast. You also get a clear lens for those early morning or late evening rides where you just need eye protection from dust and debris and not the sun.
The lenses are both scratch-resistant and shatterproof so even in the event of a crash they won’t break and they will protect your eyes. Afterall, why would you want cycling glasses if they can’t do this.
The frames on these are the Grilamid TR-90 which is a nylon-infused plastic and a vast majority of sports sunglasses are made of the same material. Still, it should be noted it’s one of the major reasons these glasses are so light and durable.
The only downside I can see is that the optics aren’t quite as clear as say Oakley (which is 3x the price) but for this price range they are far above average.
The Tifosi Optics Tsali cycling sunglasses are a great set of cycling sunglasses that deliver on their promises. They are very light, protect your eyes, and you’ll look great while wearing them. A win all around!
